Research assistant, Nicola Schlichting

Nicola Schlichting has been a research assistant in the Education and Encounters department since 2011. She is the point of contact for freelancers working in Visitor Services and is responsible for the training and further education of the guides who accompany registered groups attending various educational events in the context of our Visitor Services.

Research Assistant, Tessa Bouwman

Tessa Bouwman is responsible for coordinating international encounters with a focus on Israel, such as German-Israeli youth encounters, as well as student exchanges and the educators who look after such groups. She is also part of the organisational team for the Bergen-Belsen International Summer School and is available for Dutch guided tours and educational programmes.

Monika Brockhaus has worked as an educational research assistant at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial since February 2012. She is the point of contact for international encounters with a focus on Israel, such as German-Israeli youth encounters, as well as student exchanges and the educators who look after such groups.

Coordination "Partnership for Democracy", Dr. Leyla Ferman

Dr. Leyla Ferman leitet seit 2017 die Koordinierungs- und Fachstelle „Partnerschaft für Demokratie“. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Kooperationsprojekt zwischen der Stadt Bergen und der Gedenkstätte Bergen-Belsen, das vom Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend im Rahmen des Bundesprogramms „Demokratie leben!“ gefördert wird. Im Rahmen des Projektes werden Handlungskonzepte zur Förderung von Demokratie und Vielfalt entwickelt.

Scientific Trainee, Maximilian Vogel

Maximilian Vogel has been a volunteer research assistant at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial since September 2018. He works in the Education and Encounters department, where he is responsible for organising the International Summer School, among other things. Over the next two years, he will gain an insight into all parts of the Memorial and independently choose areas in which to focus.
