Daniel Tonn is the point of contact for multi-day programmes at the Memorial. He is also responsible for international encounters with a focus on East Central and Eastern Europe.  

Since 2012, Daniel Tonn has worked as a research assistant at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial and been involved in projects funded by third parties for the Lower Saxony Memorials Foundation (‘Disenfranchisement as a defining experience’ from 2012-2015, and ‘Competence against antiziganism – KogA’ since 2015). Focusing on East Central and Eastern Europe, he develops formats and content for international encounters and professional exchanges. He coordinates, designs and conducts multi-day programmes aimed at young people and educators. He additionally contributes to developing and carrying out programmes aimed specifically at professional groups from the police. One thematic focal point of his work is the history of the persecution of the Sinti and Roma under National Socialism.  

Daniel Tonn has a master’s degree in social science and a bachelor’s degree in political science and history. He studied at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the University of  Erfurt. He also spent a semester abroad at Vilnius University in Lithuania. While studying in Berlin, he served as the honorary chairman of the ‘Jugend bewegt Europa’ non-profit organization. In the context of the CrossCulture Programme of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations, he spent two months at the start of 2019 working with a human rights organization in Bishkek/Kyrgyzstan.
